One of the programming staples that solidify Syfy as a favorite network among the geek set is their Syfy Original Movies. Every week we tune in to see what wierd hybrid is let loose on the unsuspecting public, or what alien assassin is on the run in these B-movie tributes. The best part is they often star actors we know and love.

In a press release from March 29, 2011, Syfy announced April Original Movies will be no exception. John Rhys-Davies (Lord of the Rings, Star Trek: Voyager) and Joe Flanigan (Stargate: Atlantis, Warehouse 13) will star in the Syfy Original Movie, Ferocious Planet. Ferocious Planet airs April 9th, 2011 at 9pm ET/PT.

“an experimental device designed to view alternate universes malfunctions on its first demonstration, transporting a group of observers into a nightmarish new dimension. The team must use ingenuity and courage to outwit the bloodthirsty creatures of this bizarre world, while trying to repair the damaged machine and return home.”

Also among the heavy hitters gracing Syfy Original Movies are Stephen Rea (V for Vendetta, The Crying Game) and Roisin Murphy (Grey’s Anatomy) who will star in Road Kill. Road Kill airs April 23rd, 2011 at 9PM ET/PT.

“a group of friends on a scenic RV road trip through Ireland, whose cross-country adventure takes an unexpected turn when they accidentally run down an old gypsy woman. Before she dies, the woman curses them, summoning a giant bird of prey called a Simuroc to exterminate the young people, one by one.”

With such wonderful casting news, you can bet I will be tuning in to see the latest additions to Syfy’s catalog of Original Movies. Why not set your DVR and watch with me?
